Another great weekend to be fishing on the Mad River! Granted we could use a little rain to raise the river's level, but the one consistent riser was a group of light colored midges. Sunday morning the midge hatch was very strong.

In under two hours of fishing we caught over 20 twenty browns. Two were 15 inches or larger and one was a good 20+. All of fish we caught were fooled using a tan hare's ear or a cream colored caddis size 20. Probably the best fishing trip we had all year.

If your looking for a fishing partner give me an e-mail anytime. I can't guarantee a day like today, but the last two weekends have been just glorious.

Saturday was a super day to be on the Mad! The water was nearly 50 degrees and one could fish the Mad in a light sweatshirt.

The river was alive with an enormous midge hatch all over the river. In may places it was just a thick cloud of midges. The trout were well aware of this and were rising in many portions of the upper Mad.

I spent a very enjoyable day fishing with a new friend from Troy. Caught quite a few browns (nothing huge), some chubs, and saw at least 6 carp that had to be cose to 3 feet long! Thanks Mike for a great day on the river!

On a personal note...I was fishing part of the day using a dropper and caught two fish on one cast not once, but twice!
